Motivation

Who motivates you? Who motivates you to go to school? Who motivates you to do well with your life? These are some of the questions that i would like know about college students. Is there a purpose of why they are enrolled in college or is it because that's what their parents wanted them to do. I asked a couple of my peers and they told me that their parents’ mistakes motivate them. They motivate themselves, and that good paying career motivates them. I believe that all of these answers from my peers are very true when it comes to being motivated. You will need an adult figure like your parents, teachers and close relatives to motivate you. I know that i was motivated by my mother to go to school and not wait until after i was older with kids to start. She taught me that it is better to do everything while you are young so that when I’m older i can enjoy my life. I also believe that self-motivation is the key to anything that you do in life. You need to be motivated by yourself to do anything because if you don't believe in yourself and want your goal then no one else is going to want it for you. You can't be in college and not want to be. You have to be self-motivated to wake up every day early or late and attend 50 minute or 2 hour lectures and not think about the ending result. I know that i am motivated by the fact that at the end of my college life , i will be able to get a good paying job. No more working in fast food and clothing stores anymore but at companies and firms pursuing my dreams of being a certified public accountant. After all i think that motivation is the key to success as well as a few other things too.

My daily week

So...my week didn't go exactly how i had planned it to go. Some days I spent studying more because I had 3 tests that week. Other days I only studies for a couple hours. And on the weekend after 12pm on Friday I didn’t study until Sunday because that’s when I wasn’t busy. When i learned in our class discussion that we had 70 hours of free time i was really shocked because i really didn't know where it was going. It took me about 3 hours to do homework and study every night due to the distractions that i had. I would have to say that my biggest distractions are Facebook, the television and my phone. I felt like most of my time went to relaxing or out hanging with friends. And if i wasn’t relaxing or hanging out with friends i was asleep. I feel like the reason why i only study for about 2 to 3 hours is because i don't have that much work and it seems easy to me. I feel like when i have a test i will study for more hours but when i don't then the maximum i will study per night is 3 hours. I feel that i can change my management skills by not sleeping as much as i do. I feel that i sleep a lot because when i take a nap, i usually am refreshed so that when i try to go to sleep by at least 12 or 1 in the morning, i am not able to. I also feel like i will be able to manage my time more because i am starting to join clubs and even though that will take some time away , i feel like i will be able to get my time together. I think it's hard to see what you are doing for an extra 70 hours because as the time goes by , you don’t feel like you have extra time. Even if you know you have extra down time, you won't know what to do with it because it just feels like you're going on with your day.

Quien es muy excellente en mis ojos;

I believe that "Louie's Happy Blog Time" "The Triumphs and Troubles of Tina" & "Mein Laben als Tori' should all receive A's in my eyes.

What attracted me to these three students' blogs was the fact that their titles were all interesting. They all stand out from everyone else. They didn't go with the normal " Name & then thoughts" .

Louie's  blog is really creative. Every blog post has more than one picture. As well as having a picture, they are all animated cartoons that probably took some time to look for. Overall his blog is well put together. His background goes together with his pictures. His blog post aren't just the normal informative posts. They show his personality and his sense of humor in them all.
Tina's blog attracted me because of her use of a tongue twister as her title. She took time to come up with a tittle that goes along with her name. She as well has a significant amount of pictures to go with her blog. She also doesn’t make her whole entire blog post one long paragraph. She separates it so it doesn't seem like there is so much to read. I also like Tina's background because the picture of the road shows that the troubles of a student are a long journey. I believe that what Tina said in her most recent post about being a good blogger was true "I don’t think length is as important as answering the question at hand is."

Tori's blog attracted me the most. I like how she has her title in another language. Then after going to her page i found that she has a lot of good things to say.  Her pictures of different artwork on the side of her blog page are very neat.  I also like how she asks questions that involve the reader that somehow relates to them. She is inviting the reader to read more without them knowing. Also like everyone else it looks like she took her time to make everything neat and interesting.
I believe that everyone can be and is creative to earn an A in this blog class. It just depends on how well you are able to produce your own ideas and show what you have learned throughout time.

Interesting blogs

Pandora is a music web site that allows you to listen to free music playlists of your artist choice. I like this website because whenever i want to listen to my favorite artist, they give me a bunch of songs that have been sung by them and even different artist songs. They have a blog talking about how they improved their website to make it better for their users. Other students might like this website because while doing their homework online they don't have to use their battery life on your iPod or phone. This blog site is more of a professional type of blog. They are trying to sell their website by telling everyone about what makes it better than every other music website. It's interesting because most websites that improve themselves usually post all their accomplishments on that exact website, but with this one they are putting it in a blog for the people who read blogs daily.

ABC news has a blog website that not only talks about the news but it has subtopics about music, fashion, TV and etc. One blog that i read was about the 2011 Emmy Awards. This blog gives at least a 20 minute play by play of everything that went on in the Emmys. I believe students would like this blog because in case they missed it they know exactly what happened and who was wearing what. This blog is more like a professional type of blog but it still has a fun side because it's not talking about boring topics that you might not want to read about. It also post pictures and website that let you explore beyond that one blog post.

Both of these logs have great amount of information that are helpful to everyone. Whether it’s about music that helps you concentrate or if it’s about the latest current events and social events. It’s all about how these blogs are presented that will catch your eye.

Are electronics the reason for distractions with teens

Everyone in today's society has some new and improved form of technology. Whether it’s from the latest blackberry or iPhone or the latest laptop. Everybody needs to be digital even 10 year olds. But is all the technology affecting how students are in the classroom and with every activity around them. In the article "Growing Up Digital, Wired for Distraction' it saying how everything has become digital , even in the schools. Most ways to communicate with your teachers are on the wen, where students are able to access every distractible website like Facebook, twitter and etc. I believe that when you are doing things on the web you are going to be distracted. Even doing this blog i am distracted by Facebook, oovoo & watching music videos on my laptop. Even with phones that have internet on them. You could be emailing your teacher and then forget because you are texting your friend about the party that is coming up on the weekend. The article "Debunking The Myth of Multitasking" is a great reason to why people think having their electronics with them while doing homework is great. This article says that there is a difference from background tasking and switch tasking, I believe in this a hundred percent because ALL students say that they are able to multitask between homework, television and the internet when in reality they are switch tasking. They go from watching television for 30 minutes to doing one or two problems on their homework and then going on the internet. I do this a bunch of times and i know that it is the reason why i procrastinate a lot. The question is will technology always be the downfall of peoples study habits and reasons for neglecting other obligations. This will forever be a big problem but I think as long as you can control it and get the job done it shouldn’t be a problem.

Does being a deeper thinker mean you are a hard worker?

Last week i read two different articles. One was called "How to Become a Deep Thinker at College” and the other one was called “Work Hard or Work Smart”. Together both of these articles give me the idea that in order to be a successful college student you must be able to be a critical thinker which means thinking beyond outside and beyond the normal, as well as being able to be a hard worker. According to the "How to Become a Deep Thinker at College" article , it says that in order to become a better thinker you must double your school work schedule which means that you won't have a lot of time for activities to go on. I disagree with that statement because i think in order to become a well-rounded deep thinking college student is to be able to join different activities and clubs so that you can learn from them and see where other people are coming from. You can't always get all of your skills from a book. I can understand where the author is coming from but according to things that I’ve heard from professors, a college student should be involved with their campus community. Not meaning that a student should overwhelm themselves by joining too many clubs but just as much as they feel would fit into their schedule. The other article “Work Hard or Work Smart”, had great points where it said in order to work hard you must be able to plan things out and making sure that you stick to your plan. Like planning out when you are going to do your homework and for how long for each subject. I like this idea because; I have been using this since I was in my junior year of high school when I started working. It helps because not only do you have a set plan but it also makes sure that everything will be done at a certain time and that you won’t ever fall behind in your work. I would like to know that if this idea worked for everyone and if it does , what benefits do they get out of it?

What college is to me

College...the place where every high school student is happy to go to because they think they have all the freedom in the world. No rules, no more living at home and especially NO PARENTS! But college is way more to that then what students think. College is an institution that is supposed to mold you to become a better person as well as get you ready for the real world. Going to college is a must in today’s world whether it's a two year college or a four year. I believe that if you want to have a good job that pays you well, then you need to have some form of higher level education above high school. Being a college student to me is a growing experience. Transitioning from high school to college life will be a hard experience but I believe that I will be able to get through it. In high school not doing your homework will get you in trouble or maybe a call home , but in college if you don’t do your homework , no one is going to call home or say anything to you. If you don’t study for a test you are going to receive a bad grade with no make-up test. Once you mess up on one test it’s hard to bring your grade back up if there are only a few tests in that class. This relates to life in general because you only have one time to do something correctly and if not you just have to keep going on with the mistake that you made and hopefully you will learn from it. College is also a good place for you to meet new people and make new friendships. You are also open to attend many programs that the college offers which give you information about different ethnic groups and social groups. For example, SCSU is having a “Chinese Moon Festival Celebration” and there it will be showing all the different traditions that china has. Altogether for me, college will be a great change for me mentally because of all the knowledge I will gain. I have high expectations for myself and I am determined to make sure that i get to and go beyond my goals that I have set.

5 words to describe ME

If i could choose any 5 words that could define me the best , they would have to be : Independent , Caring , Stubborn , Patient and Quiet.

Independent: To be independent means to be free from the outside world. It means that you don't depend on any one else to get what you need. This definition relates to me because at a young age my mother taught me that the only person I can depend on is myself. I was never the type of person to keep asking my parents for things that I wanted or needed. I went out and got them myself. I realized that I don't like to ask others for things because they usually make you wait or they will never do it. I believe that it is important for people to become independent because that is the only way that someone can become a strong person.

Caring: To be caring means that you show your emotions and feelings towards other people who are special to you. I feel like if one of my friends or family is going through something that is hard for them then it becomes hard for both of us. I always make sure that my friends are happy and try my best to show them love. I show love to those who deserve it because I know that if I were to go through a hard time, they would be right there to help me get through it. It’s important to show that you care for someone because you shouldn’t just care only about yourself.

Stubborn: Being stubborn means that you are hard headed and don’t like to listen or believe the advice or criticism that people give to you. I can say that I am very stubborn at times because especially when my mother tries to yell and tell me things that I know are going to benefit me, I tend to not listen & just do what I feel is right to do. Even if I know the consequences might be bad, I like to experience things for myself because that’s the only way I can experience life.

Patient: Someone who is patient can endure trials without complaining and is able to bear with anything that is thrown at them. I consider myself a very patient person. I know that a lot of things that I want and even need will not just show up when I think I need them. A lot of times it is said that if you wait for certain things, even better things will come along. I believe in that quote a lot from the recent situations I have been put in in the past couple of years.

Quiet:  Being quiet to me means that you like to stick to yourself at times. I tend to be quiet when am in a new environment where I don’t know anyone. Like college for example, I don’t really know a lot of people so I tend to be quiet when I’m around others because I don’t know if their personalities are similar to mine.  I also tend to be quiet when I don’t feel comfortable or when I’m not in a good mood. I feel that it’s good to be quiet because it gives you the most time to sit and think about things that are on your mind.
